“空风”是一套专门为空气凤梨设计的动态商品包装。该系列包装材料采用PLA基无机环保纸，整个包装一纸成型，简约大气。包装表面的开窗奉行造型与实用性统一的设计理念，既能给植物提供安全透气的运送环境，又兼具东方美感。
“Kong Feng” is dynamic product packaging specifically designed for air plants. The packaging material used by “Kong Feng” is PLA-based inorganic recycled paper. The simple packaging is made up from only one piece of paper. And the opening part of the packaging reflects the design concept of combining the modelling and practicality: The packaging can not only provide a safe and breathable transportation environment for plants, but also reflect a sense of oriental beauty.
空气凤梨是一种起源于美洲中部和南部的观赏性植物，因其生长不需泥土、养护方便，为人们所喜爱。然而在市场销售中，空气凤梨的往往使用多层的包装，包括棉絮、纤维等缓冲材料、纸盒结构、塑料袋，这样的包装不仅浪费资源，其美观性和透气性也较差。
“空风”利用自身纸结构的相互牵引，在外壳内形成一个小的缓冲区。该包装设计同时具备透气、安全、美观、低碳的优势，提出了对原本问题的新解决方案。
Air plant is an ornamental plant originating in the middle and southern part of the Americas. People like it as it is convenient to grow with no need for soil. Yet air plants in the market usually use multi-layer packaging, including cushioning materials of cotton and fibres, paper boxes, and plastic bags, which not only is a waste of resources, but also has bad properties of aesthetics and air permeability.
“Kong Feng” forms a small cushioning area within the packaging by using the mutual traction of its own paper structure. And the packaging also has advantages of air permeability, safety, beauty and low carbon, which proposes a new solution for the original problem.
“空风”使用的材料是PLA基无机环保纸，其成分是PLA树脂和碳酸钙粉末，既可以自然降解，生产过程相比常规纸张也更节约水资源和能耗。
为了更好利用这种材料不易破损、防水的特点，我们设计了包装的动态变化。在消费者打开包装后，内部纸托上升，将空气凤梨抬高，使消费者获得优雅的使用体验。沿虚线撕下卡扣，该包装就变成了一个将空气凤梨悬空展示的花盆，用户可以直接用喷壶给空气凤梨浇水，延长了包装的产品生命周期。
The material used by ‘Kong Feng’ is PLA-based inorganic recycled paper, which contains PLA resin and calcium carbonate powder. It can be naturally degraded and its production process consumes less water resource and energy compared with that of regular papers.
We have designed the dynamic characteristic of the packaging to better utilize its features of toughness and water-resistance. After the packaging is opened by consumers, the internal paper tray as well as the air plant are raised up, providing an elegant user experience for consumers. And the packaging will become a suspended flowerpot for presenting the air plant if a consumer tears the paper along the dotted line. Then consumers can directly water the air plant with a watering can, which extends the life circle of the packaging.
在造型设计上，遵循少即是多的理念，用刀板流畅的曲线外轮廓折叠出简约的立体造型。透过包装四面的开窗可以看到里面植物的一部分，借鉴了东方园林中对景的手法，充满意趣。在标识图形的设计上，参考东方园林花窗构造的镂空效果与包装结构的形状进行设计，使之具有古典文化的底蕴。镂空图案与空气凤梨的形状相结合，用七片修长的绿叶表现产品的优雅。
As for the modelling design, the packaging commits to the notion of “less is more”. Its simple three-dimensional modelling is folded with smooth-curved contour. A part of the plant can be seen through the openings on the 4 sides of the packaging, which draws on an intriguing technique called “opposite scenery” of the oriental garden design. As for the design of the logo, it contains a feeling of classic culture as it refers to the hollowing effect of figured widows in oriental gardens as well as the shape of the packaging structure. And the hollowing pattern accords to the shape of air plants, using 7 slim leaves to present the elegance of the product.
